Over one hundred years ago, God gave our founder four distinct emphases that were not underscored in main-line churches.
Dr. Simpson spoke of the “all-sufficiency” of Christ, and summed up this truth in what he spoke of as “The Four-fold Gospel” – Christ, our Savior; Christ, our Sanctifier; Christ, our Healer; and Christ, our Coming King.
This slogan has become the essence of our “deeper life” message. It presents our Lord Jesus Christ as sufficient for our salvation from past guilt and condemnation; sufficient to enable us to live holy (sanctified) lives; sufficient for our physical health and healing, and whose second coming we anticipate.
Becoming a fully devoted follower of Christ means experiencing Christ as your personal Saviour, Sanctifier, Healer and coming King.
CHRIST, OUR SAVIOUR
The cross stands for salvation through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
“…God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever
believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” ~ John 3:16
CHRIST, OUR SANCTIFIER
The laver (wash basin) is representative of sanctification, that daily cleansing from sin by the power of the indwelling Christ, by the ministry of the Holy Spirit.
“May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it.”
~ I Thessalonians 5:23, 24
CHRIST, OUR HEALER
The pitcher speaks of oil, the biblical emblem of the Holy Spirit of God, who brings to us both life and health.
Psalm 103:1-3 “Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our
sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted…and by his wounds, we are healed.” ~ Isaiah 53:4, 5b, Matthew 8:17, James 5:13-16
CHRIST, OUR COMING KING
The crown symbolizes the return of our Lord Jesus Christ as King of kings and Lord of lords.
Mathew 24:14. “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.” [Bring back the king!]” This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.” ~ Acts 1:11b
Kindersley Alliance Church is a part of the Christian and Missionary Alliance which is a family of churches that was founded by a Canadian, Albert Benjamin Simpson, in the late 1800s. Simpson began pastoring in a Presbyterian church in Hamilton, Ontario, followed by Louisville, Kentucky and New York City. His burden to care for the thousands of new immigrants who were arriving to NY was part of the reason that he left the prestige and security of his Presbyterian ministry and started “The Gospel Tabernacle”.
In 1887, Simpson and a number of those influenced by his ministry founded two organizations: 1) The evangelical Missionary Alliance, that sought to bring the good news of Jesus Christ to foreign lands, and 2) the Christian Alliance, which focused on helping people find the fullness of life that God had intended for them. These two organizations joined to become The Christian & Missionary Alliance in 1897.
Because of Simpson’s Canadian roots, this new organization began simultaneously working in Canada and great growth followed here in our country. Today, the Alliance is working in 81 countries worldwide with over 11,000 churches.
